By The Numbers
It was heartwarming to see so many MB10kers for the Special Edition of the race in October, whether they were running locally as a family team or all the way from Bahrain, we are thankful for all of you!
We had 29 states represented. The furthest state had racers in Maine. While most of our participants came from the golden state, Massachusetts and Texas were second and third respectively.
The South Bay came out in full force! Manhattan Beach residents earned the top number of registrants, followed by Redondo and a very close third for Hermosa peeps. Torrance, El Segundo, Palos Verdes and Rolling Hills also rounded out the friendly competition.
Local run clubs showed their support as well! Big thanks to South Bay Runners Club, Club Ed, Electric Flight Crew, the Wall Nuts, Mira Costa Cross Country Teams and Village Runner groups.
62% of racers have done the MB10k 3 or more times, 20% were first-timers, and 18% have done it 1-2 times.
188 friends donated funds to the following groups:
Mira Costa High School Boosters
Mira Costa High School Cross Country Boosters
Mira Costa High School Drama Boosters
In the battle of the sexes, the ladies won out with an impressive 57%! Racers ranged in age from 99 to just a few months old. The largest age group was 50 to 59 year olds, followed by 40 to 49 year olds and 30 to 39 year olds .
176 people joined the MB10k Strava group with 485 total club miles for this week! WOW! If you’d like to join, click the button below.
Grateful For All The Smiles
We had a huge outpouring via social media and emails with racers sharing their photos and smiles while they ran or walked the MB10k. Take a minute to scroll through these photos to bring a smile to your face. We look froward to seeing you for the 44th running of the race in 2021.
RaceWire Virtual Turkey Trot
Our friends at RaceWire have put together a Virtual Turkey Trot this year and have generously offered to donate $10 back to the MB10k for any of you who sign up! This race is for anyone looking to run off some of that turkey, keep up their family tradition of the turkey trot, or just run a really fun race. An event dedicated to family traditions, fall, and one month closer to the end of a year.
Participants can sign up for a distance from 1M, 5k, 10k, Half, or Full Marathon. You will receive a customized virtual bib number, and instructions on how to run and submit your results over Thanksgiving weekend. Their soft cotton shirt and medal can also be added on for an additional fee.
